Was Trump's 'AI Pope' photo a cryptic message?

U.S. President Donald Trump in early May stirred controversy by sharing an AI-generated image of himself dressed as the pope.
He posted the photo on his Truth Social platform just days before Catholic cardinals were set to meet and choose a new pope, following the death of Pope Francis last month at age 88.
The image, which was later shared by the White House on its official X account, showed Trump seated solemnly in an ornate chair, wearing white papal robes and headgear, with one finger pointed upward.
The irreverent posting drew instant outrage on X, including from Republicans against Trump.
Days later, Cardinal Robert Prevost has been elected as the new pope, making him the first American pope.
Originally from Chicago, Prevost is the head of the church's Dicastery for Bishops. The powerful position means he oversees the selection of new bishops.
He's a dual citizen, holding nationality in both the U.S. and Peru, where he served for many years.
Now, many X users are questioning whether Trump had a role in the election of the first-ever American Pope.
Meanwhile, President Trump has congratulated Pope Leo XIV, while announcing his interest in meeting him.
