Nigerian actor Richard Mofe Damijo (RMD) has expressed his support for John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), in Ghana’s upcoming 2024 presidential election. During an interview with JoyNews on November 25, 2024, which was later shared on X, RMD encouraged Ghanaians to vote for Mahama, citing his accomplishments during his previous tenure as president.
RMD stressed the importance of choosing the right candidate, urging Ghanaians not to make the mistake of selecting someone who does not have their best interests at heart. He emphasized that Mahama was a leader who truly supported the people, and urged Ghanaians to give him another opportunity to lead.

The actor also mentioned that Mahama is his preferred candidate for the upcoming election. Although they’ve never met, RMD shared that his admiration for the former president stems from the impact of his leadership, particularly the construction of the airport, a project that continues to remind him of Mahama's legacy.
"I have my favourite, and I’m sure he’s the one Ghanaians will vote for. My favourite is Mahama because I like him. I haven’t met him before, but every time I pass through the airport, I’m reminded that he was the one who built it. And I have a lot of Ghanaian friends who’ve told me about all the good work he did as president," he added.
Additionally, RMD noted that many of his Ghanaian friends have spoken highly of Mahama’s achievements. Ghana heads to the poll on Saturday, December 7.
