North Tongu Member of Parliament Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has announced that a new ethanol processing factory in Kpenu within the Dorfor Traditional Area is set to open next month.
The factory, currently 95% complete, is expected to create over 800 jobs, supported by a youth-led cassava farming initiative to supply raw materials. Mr Ablakwa thanked Chinese investors and local chiefs for their support.

Ghana’s ethanol industry began in 2016 with Caltech Ventures' facility in Hodzo, supported by Kasapreko Company Limited, which owns a 40% stake.
The country’s ethanol market is projected to grow at 7.5% annually, driven by government policies like the Biofuel Policy for Ghana, which promotes local biofuel production to reduce reliance on fossil fuels.
