Liverpool manager Arne Slot has praised Ghanaian forward Mohammed Kudus for his outstanding display in their 2-1 win over West Ham United on April 13, 2025.
Slot said Kudus was impressive throughout the game, especially with his sharp runs in the final third that put pressure on Liverpool’s defense when West Ham were down by a goal.
He added that Kudus, alongside Lucas Paquetá and other West Ham players, played so well that the result could have gone the other way if Liverpool had eased off during the game.
"These two quality players, I think Lucas Paqueta and Mohammed Kudus were outstanding today, especially in the second half. Maybe because we were 1-0 up and we conceded one or two chances, it led to a situation where we were a bit too afraid or didn't press hard enough anymore.
“It's them taking more and more risk, bringing a lot of players into the midfield and they still had their threat in these runs with [Aaron] Wan-Bissaka, [Jarrod] Bowen and all the others. It was a bit of both. Definitely credit to West Ham as well but you don't only see this here, I see this every game that I watch," Slot told reporters after the game.
Liverpool secured a 2-1 win over West Ham at Anfield, thanks to goals from Luis Díaz and Virgil van Dijk. West Ham’s only goal came from a Liverpool own goal by defender Andrew Robertson.
The Reds now sit in a strong position to win the league with 76 points, while West Ham are 17th on the table with 35 points.
There are growing rumours that Liverpool may be eyeing a move for Mohammed Kudus to strengthen their attack, but any possible transfer will depend on the 2024/25 summer window.
